CULTURAL EVENTS

The Carnival Of Filothei The carnival events begin from the first Apokries with presentation of carnival scenes, songs (fancy dresses of region with teasing content) and pantomimes from masquerades with dirty faces, feast with popular instrumentalists etc (the Ganotzis - Eat an egg - the Camel - the Pepper - the Fainter - songs and dances with the turning of baking pan are the things that dominate the feast) having as climax the maypole at the second Carnival. The maypole is one the very few carnival customs of local origin that exist until today.
Koulouma at Filothei
The rich and long tradition of our region, addresses Clean Monday as the day that the people of the region go out in the countryside, for a big popular celebration with music, song, dance, titbits of Sarakosti and abundant wine, so everyone will have fun and escape from the isolation and the everyday routine.

All together, in a meeting of mirth and charms, that will bring us close, reminding us the days of neighborhood, friendship and humanity.

National celebration of 25 March

Parade of school departments and traditional dances from the dancing departments of Intellectual centre of Municipality of Filothei. Ceremony of procession of holy picture of Saints Constantine and Helen and Zoodohou Pigis Each year at the eve of the celebration Esperinos is performed and then begins the circumambulation of the picture of Saint Constantine and Helen and the Zoodohou Pigis.

Two days of Traditional Dance

During the first days of July each year, two days of cultural events with the dancing departments of Intellectual Centre of Municipality Filothei, Political Associations of Municipality, and dancing groups from all Greece and abroad are realised.
