- APICULTURE
In the prefecture there are almost 80 beekeepers - apiarists with a total number of apiaries that reach the 7.500, with potential of more growth, since the Prefecture is rich in every type of florescence.
- FISHERY
Amvrakikos gulf is the source of wealth for the region.
There are natural fish breeding farms that are considered as some of best in Greece.
The residents of the wider region around Amvrakikos gulf ensure a great percentage of their income from the fishery. In Amvrakikos they fish Mullets, Sardines, Soles, Prawns etc while in the lagoons they fish using traditional means Eels, Gilthead sea breams, Bassfish and Gobies. Remarkable are the scenic installations, "ivaria" as it is their local name, where the fishermen of the lagoon catch the fishes. Many are the Piscatorial Unions which are activated in the lagoons of the region with the names "Logarou'", "Tsoukalio'", "Aliki", "Koftra - Paleompouka", "Rodia" and "Palmatero'". Also in the Prefecture, on the lakeside extents, eels breeding farms have been developed and are functioning. Modern units with sales in all over the territory but with export activity too.
- FORESTS - FORESTAL EXTENTS
The bigger massif of the Prefecture is defined as a forestal extent. There we can see:
a. forestal products - fir, oaks.
V. broadleaves - platans, bearberries, etc
g. pasture lands - lakes.
d. barren extents - inhabited areas - streets et
- LAND RECLAMATION
The existing land reclamation works have been manufactured in 1936 and they function up to today despite all their problems. The total network (irrigation-draining) has a length of 1.650 kilometres. The irrigated extents are 196.000 acres. Also in the Prefecture are functioning 4.000 drillings of small and large depth, that draw water from the underground aquatic horizon
- GEOTHERMAL
There are clues about the existence of geothermal energy in a depth of over 500 metres, where the temperature of water exceeds the 60 degrees Celsius. The exploitation of this energy can offer a big chance to the region for investments at the agriculture, the piscicultures, the industry etc
